When you hear “CrabWalk Mode,” you might envision a vehicle moving sideways like a crab. That’s pretty close, but the HUMMER EV’s advanced engineering ensures smooth and precise movement, no matter which direction it’s heading. This groundbreaking feature allows the HUMMER EV to drive diagonally, offering unparalleled maneuverability.
CrabWalk Mode is a cutting-edge 4-wheel steering system. Typically, only the front wheels steer the vehicle. In CrabWalk Mode, the rear wheels turn as well, aligning with the front wheels by up to 10 degrees. This allows the HUMMER EV to move diagonally, a feature that’s both unique and practical.
Imagine effortlessly sliding into a parallel parking spot or navigating tight trails with ease. CrabWalk Mode makes this a reality. It’s perfect for getting in and out of tight spaces, whether you’re off-roading or navigating narrow city streets. It also helps you maneuver around obstacles that would typically require a larger turning radius.
Using CrabWalk Mode is simple, but there are a few conditions to keep in mind. Make sure you’re driving below 1.2 mph (crawl speed), the steering wheel is centered, and Super Cruise is off. Then, follow these steps to activate CrabWalk Mode on your equipped HUMMER EV:
To deactivate CrabWalk, simply press the 4-Wheel Steering button again.
CrabWalk Mode is available in 2022 and later models of the HUMMER EV Pickup and the 2024 HUMMER EV SUV. Want to experience this innovative feature firsthand? Visit us at David Scott Lee Crestview Buick GMC and take one of the HUMMER EV models for a test drive.
