What is GM Super Cruise?
GM Super Cruise is the world's first hands-free driving system. It builds on the functionality of adaptive cruise control, adding lane centering, driver attention monitoring, and following distance control to provide a truly hands-free experience to GM drivers.
How does GM Super Cruise work?
GM Super Cruise utilizes a combination of LiDAR mapping, GPS, cameras, and radars to guide your vehicle along compatible roadways without the steering guidance of an active driver.
Can Super Cruise change lanes on its own?
Yes, the latest version of Super Cruise includes Lane Change On Demand, which allows Super Cruise to execute the lane change once the driver activates the turn signal.
Is Super Cruise the same as autonomous driving?
No. Super Cruise is considered a semi-autonomous driving system, although it doesn’t need active participation, it still requires the driver to pay attention to the road and be ready to take over if necessary.
How does Super Cruise ensure driver safety and attention?
Super Cruise includes a driver monitoring system that monitors the driver's attention. If the system detects that the driver is no longer paying attention, it will cycle through three escalating alerts. If the driver does not return their attention to the road, the system will bring the vehicle to a complete stop and contact OnStar to ensure that the driver is safe and able to navigate to a secure location.
Can I use Super Cruise everywhere?
Currently, there are more than 400,000 miles of roadways in the United States and Canada for which Super Cruise is authorized and that number continues to go up as the network expands. In the Crestview area, drivers can use Super Cruise on Route 90 and Interstate 10.
Which GMC and Buick vehicles are available with Super Cruise?
Several GMC models are available with Super Cruise, including the powerful GMC Sierra 1500 and its HD counterparts, the 2024 GMC Acadia, the 2024 Yukon, and the 2024 Terrain. The 2025 Buick Enclave is the first Buick model to add Super Cruise to its list of available features.
