Following a total redesign the previous year, GMC updated the 2016 Yukon with additional technology. The 2016 model received new smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay, an enhanced infotainment system, and lane keep assist for increased safety.
The Yukon has earned its reputation for high-end interiors, and the 2016 model continues the trend with top-quality materials, comfortable seating, abundant legroom, and a bundle of high-tech features. While even the base trim promises a well-appointed cabin, you can climb the trim levels for added comfort. The Denali trim sports a famously fashionable interior, on par with the luxury SUV class.
Depending on the build, the Yukon may seat up to nine, and the middle row accommodates car seats with LATCH connectors. In the back of the Yukon, you’ll find 15.3 cubic feet of storage space, and that number expands to 94.7 cubic feet when all passenger rows are folded. In the XL version, the maximum cargo space reaches 121.1 cubic feet.
GMC offers an impressive selection of infotainment technologies for the Yukon. Available features include Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Bose sound, HD Radio, tri-zone automatic climate control, remote start, satellite radio, and more. Many features can be accessed through a user-friendly touchscreen and conventional controls.
Available safety features include lane keep assist, rear and front parking sensors, rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, and more. If you opt for the safety alert seat, you’ll receive a noticeable rattle to draw your attention to any of the safety systems that were activated by potential hazards.
You have two engine choices for the 2016 Yukon. The standard is a robust 5.3-liter V8 that’s perfect for general towing and hauling. The alternative is a hearty 6.2-liter V8 that provides added power. Both engines pair with automatic transmission. While rear-wheel drive comes standard, you may opt for the available four-wheel drive. When equipped for hard work, the Yukon can tow a maximum of 8,500 pounds.
