In 2017, GMC increased the Sierra 1500’s maximum towing capability and equipped the truck with some state-of-the-art driver assistance tools. The 2017 model also comes with an eye-catching yet function-focused cabin.
GMC offers three engine options for the 2017 Sierra 1500. The base engine is a V6 that promises both formidable power and respectable gas mileage. Drivers may also choose between two V8 engines that boost the truck’s towing, acceleration, and hauling capacities. When equipped for the job, the truck can tow up to 12,500 pounds, and it can haul a maximum of 2,250 pounds.
The amount of seating in the Sierra 1500 depends on the cab style you want, ranging from three people to six. Vinyl and cloth surfaces offer plenty of comfort over supportive seating, but you may appreciate leather upholstery if you opt for certain trim levels. The Crew Cab and Double Cab body styles also come with LATCH connectors in the back row for fastening car seats.
The 2017 Sierra 1500 offers a variety of available technology features like Bose audio, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, satellite radio, smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
GMC also carries a long list of available safety features. Your driver assistance options include lane keep assist, forward automatic braking, forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, and more. The available safety alert seat jolts to alert the driver of any other safety warnings activated by potential hazards. If you’ll be sharing the keys with a learning driver, the Teen Driver program allows you to set maximum volume, speed, and distance limits.
