You don’t buy a heavy-duty pickup unless you plan to get things done, and the GMC Sierra HD models are built for just that. With two beastly engine options, the Sierra 2500 can tow up to 18,500 pounds. Saying the Sierra HD has muscle is an understatement. The AT4X AEV model couples the truck’s immense brawn with off-road features, allowing drivers to take it further. With the AT4X trim alone, the Sierra HD gets a factory-installed 1.5-inch suspension lift, Multimatic™ DSSV Dampers, an off-road suspension system with Rancho® Shocks, and 35-inch Goodyear® Territory Mud Terrain tires. GM’s partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) gives it even more.
American Expedition Vehicles is known worldwide for supplying top-end aftermarket parts and accessories that can upgrade even the most common SUVs or trucks into vehicles ready for overlanding adventures. In some vehicles, AEVs have their work cut out for them, fitting it to trail-ready status, but that’s not the case with the Sierra HD AT4X AEV. With the Sierra HD, the off-road brand already had a beast of a vehicle as its starting point, but their ingenuity and craftsmanship take it to new heights. The AT4X AEV comes exclusively on the 2500 HD crew cab with the six-foot-nine-inch bed and four-wheel drive. Buyers can still choose between the 401-horsepower 6.6-liter V8 that generates 464 lb.-ft. of torque or the Duramax diesel version that cranks out 47o horsepower and 975 lb.-ft. Of torque. The Goodyear tires are wrapped around exclusive 18-inch aluminum wheels, giving the truck 11.8 inches of ground clearance. It is equipped with stamped steel, underbody skid plates. Powder-coated front and rear bumpers provide next-level durability and protection. In addition, the bumpers feature integrated recovery points and front winch capabilities.
Inside, the cabin is dressed in gorgeous AEV branding. AEV embroidery is stitched into the headrest, and the AT4X badges can be found scattered about the interior. All-weather floor liners are also included. In the cockpit, you’ll find a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch driver information center, and an available 15-inch head-up display with an off-road inclinometer. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard and available Google Built-in. An available 14-camera surround view system lets you monitor the road beneath your wheels, your trailers, as well as everything else around you.
