Full-size pickup trucks are offered in a variety of cab and bed lengths. The 2023 Sierra 1500 offers choices of a single cab, double cab, or crew cab, and bed lengths ranging from 5.8 feet to 8.2 feet. The 2023 F-150 is less versatile, with only two cab choices and three bed length choices.
While the 2023 Sierra 1500 and the 2023 F-150 offer 136 cubic feet of cabin space with their largest cabs, the 2023 Sierra 1500 is the more luxurious of the two. Venturing up the trim ladder grants you open-pore wood trim and plenty of leather. GMC offers four engines for the 2023 Sierra 1500 range. The base engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that develops 310 horsepower. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Then, there are two V8s. The smaller one displaces 5.3 liters and produces 355 horsepower, while the larger one comes in at 6.4 liters and provides 420 horsepower. According to Car and Driver, the larger V8 has been shown to achieve zero to 60 in 5.4 seconds.
Finally, there’s a 3.0-liter Duramax in-line six turbodiesel with 305 horsepower. The turbodiesel and the gasoline V8s pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While rear-wheel-drive is standard on the 2023 Sierra 1500 range, you can specify an all-wheel-drive system on any variant.
The 2023 F-150 comes with a 3.3-liter V6 that develops 290 horsepower, a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder with 335 horsepower, a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with 400 horsepower, a hybrid variant with 400 horsepower, a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel with 250 horsepower. A 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel-drive are standard across the range. An all-wheel-drive system is optional.
The 2023 Sierra 1500 and the 2023 F-150 feature airbags, stability control, brake assist, and automated emergency braking as standard. The 2023 Sierra 1500 also brings standard blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. These are optional on the 2023 F-150.
