The Encore GX base engine, standard on all trims, is a turbocharged 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine that generates 137 horsepower, and the available engine, available on the Select and Essence, is a turbocharged 1.3-liter 3-cylinder that produces 155 horsepower. This SUV comes standard with a continuously variable automatic transmission with front-wheel drive, while a nine-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive is available. When properly equipped, the Encore GX can tow up to 1,000 pounds.
There’s plenty of cargo space on the Encore GX, with 23.5 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 50.2 cubic feet of space with the second row folded down. The Encore GX makes loading and unloading large cargo items easy and is equipped with a split-folding rear seat and folding front passenger seat. The Encore GX comes standard with an adjustable liftgate height and a hands-free power liftgate.
The Encore GX Preferred has several standard interior, technology, and safety and driver-assistance features.
The interior has features like cloth and synthetic leather upholstery.
The technology comes standard with features such as satellite radio, proximity keyless entry, a six-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, two USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The standard safety and driver-assistance features include Teen Driver, forward collision warning, automatic high-beam headlights, forward automatic emergency braking, a following-distance indicator, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
The Preferred also has the option to add the Cold Weather Comfort package, which includes features like remote start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats.
The Encore GX Select has all the same features as the Preferred and comes standard with the features included in the Cold Weather Comfort package and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The Select can also add available packages like the Safety Package II, which adds lane-change assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Standard alone features like a hands-free power liftgate are also available.
The Encore GX Essence has all the basic features as the lower trims and gains interior features like a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel and genuine leather upholstery.
